We were back in the large hall only now it was filled with trolls. Lots of very loud, very drunk trolls. I know they were drunk because I was helping to serve the mead. I had on my new rawhide dress, and my hair was now braided down the middle thanks to Bone Arrow. The dress was too large on me and hung off my shoulder, but the material was soft and comfortable. It fit better after I had used my belt to synch the waist, and I rather liked it. I was extra careful with the large mead pitchers I was running back and forth so as not to spill anything on it.
After we had slipped back into the water and rinsed off the clay, Bone Arrow had wanted to continue, but I convinced him I was starving and needed food first—not entirely a lie. He was reluctant, even going so far as showing me how ready he was by wrapping my hand around his growing erection. He relented when my stomach growled loudly in what had to be the most impeccable timing in all the known realms. I had no idea what I was going to do after the meal when we would be returning to his home, and he expected to pick up where we had left off. Truthfully, I am not sure what I wanted anymore. The way I felt, and the need burning between my legs was confusing the holy crow out of me.
As we returned to the hall, Bone Arrow explained that it was expected of me to work before I could eat. “Human cannot eat without earning share first,” he said. “Van must understand this. All clan must work for their share. Must earn respect. Deserve food.”
“Yes, I understand. Makes perfect sense,” I told him because it did. No one liked a freeloader.
“Clan think badly if Van eats together with Bone Arrow. I take to kitchen. You serve food. Easy for little human.”
“Well, lucky for you, I just happened to be a killer barmaid and kitchen hand.” I gave him a wink as I spoke, “Don’t worry Bone Arrow, I got your back.”
“You need not kill anything, Van. Just run trays to tables.”
“Got it. What do the others think of humans in general?”
“Not like.”
“Good to know.”
I did a quick scan for Ren as soon as we entered the big hall. He was not there, and I tried to hide my disappointment as Bone Arrow escorted me to the kitchen. He had some back and forth with the female trolls who seemed reluctant to take me. While he deliberated with them, I watched a sizeable armor-plated lizard thing eat prickly fruit from a bowl. It sat on the stone table next to us, and every time its long sticky tongue shot out to lick from the fruit, the scales on its neck would change from green to yellow.
“It is done.” Bone Arrow’s voice brought my attention back to the conversation. “Van will work now,” he simply said before he started to walk off.
